Dubai, UAE, 10 July 2018: After 100 laps and over two hours of endurance kart racing, Hussain Umid Ali and Romaldo Labrooy of Dubai Falcons Racing Team clinched the debut round of the Sodi World Series (SWS) Summer Enduro Cup at Dubai Kartdrome on Monday night (9 July).
Dubai Kartdrome Manager David Bright said, “We’re happy to announce the launch of a brand-new series with sponsor prizes to challenge drivers during the summer season.”
“The Summer Enduro Cup is aligned with SWS, which will allow teams to earn crucial points towards entry into the SWS World Finals in Europe.”
A total of 28 teams lined up on the Reverse Hill track configuration at Dubai Kartdrome to compete in the opening round of the Summer Enduro Cup.
Duarte Lopes and Muteb Alsaqhan of SLD Racing controlled the contest early on, with Lope securing pole position with a best lap time of 1:16.332, edging out Al Ain Falcons Racing Team by just 0.189 seconds. Dubai Falcons Racing Team secured P3 with a best lap of 1:16.582.
The top three teams in qualifying all proved to be excellent contenders in the two hours and fifteen minutes of endurance racing, with SLD and Dubai Falcons trading places at the front of the pack.
Romaldo Labrooy of Dubai Falcons Racing Team kept up a blistering pace on the last stint and he crossed the finish line 7.194 seconds ahead of SLD Racing to take the win.
Duarte Lopes had the fastest lap of the race with an incredible 1:15.079 lap time, but SLD Racing settled for second-place after failing to make the most of pole position.
Mohammed Ismail and Saeed Al Muhairi of Al Ain Falcons Racing Team were a full 40.503 seconds behind SLD but it was enough to claim third-place on the night.
