Dubai, UAE, 6 January 2019: The #2 Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3 with drivers Abdulaziz Al Faisal, Saud Al Faisal, Hubert Haupt and Yelmer Buurman, is set to return to Dubai Autodrome to try and repeat last year’s glory with another victory at the 14th edition of the Hankook 24H Dubai on 11th and 12th of January 2019.
The #3 Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3, will drivers Khaled Al Qubaisi, Luca Stolz, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Ben Keating, will also be in the hunt. No other team has dominated this iconic international endurance race like Black Falcon, now with an unprecedented four victories to its credit (2012,2013, 2015 and 2018).
Mercedes-built race cars have taken the chequered flag four times in the history of the 24-hour race, with only Porsche boasting more wins with a total of five.
The 2017 winner, the #91 Porsche 911 GT3 R of Herberth Motorsport, with drivers Daniel Allemann, Ralf Bohn, Robert Renauer and Alfred Renauer, is also back on the grid with plenty of experience behind the wheel to seek another triumph.
In the previous 13 years of the 24H Dubai, only German cars have ever won the overall race on the 5.39-kilometre Grand Prix Circuit at Dubai Autodrome. A Lamborghini Huracán GT3, courtesy of GRT Grasser Racing Team, made a good run last year and managed to finish third. The team returns this year to attempt to make history and spoil the party for the German manufacturers.
Most of the teams competing will be from overseas, but there will also be some local heroes to challenge the international teams. Keep an eye out for GP Extreme, Atech Racing, and Dragon Racing, some of the most successful teams in the region.
So far 81 entrants have signed up to challenge the Hankook 24H Dubai and, with more entries expected over the next week, a massive grid looks to roar into action at 15.00 on Friday, 11 January.
Race fans can expect to witness an incredible collection of GTs, touring cars, and 24H specials including race machines from Ferrari, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ginetta. KTM, Lotus, Audi, Nissan, BMW, and Seat.
Entry into the Grandstand and Race Paddock areas is free for spectators. The new Fan Zone at the Grandstand Village will be packed with activities for the entire family including car displays, gaming areas, sim racing, freestyler competitions, dj’s, bands and gourmet food trucks, while the kids can enjoy bouncy castles, a cartoon zone, bungee jumping, bubble/magic shows and face painting.
